If you talk to any of my children, they will tell you that I love to make memories. And, some of our favorite memories were just of simple things.
Like - Friday night Homemade Pizza night!!
I would make the crust, and sauce, and have the toppings, and we would make our pizza.
Not only is it fun, but it sure beats the price of pizzas - either already made, or ready to bake.
Pizza Crust: (adapted from Betty Crocker cookbook)
1 tablespoon instant yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups flour
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons oil
Mix yeast, sugar, salt and flour in a mixing bowl.
In a measuring cup, measure water, and add in oil. Stir well, and immediately add to dry ingredients. Beat vigorously for 20 strokes, or until mixed well. Knead a few times. Let rest about 5 minutes.
Roll out on oiled counter, and put in a greased pan. Add toppings, and bake in a 425 degree oven for 20-25 minutes.
This is for 1 cookie sheet.
Pizza Sauce:
Pizza Sauce recipe:
2 cans tomato sauce
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon basil
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 bay leaf
Dash onion powder
Put all in a saucepan. Mix well. Heat until hot and boiling, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Remove bay leaf.
This makes enough for 2 cookie sheets. You can either make the 2 cookies sheets pizzas, or make 1 and freeze 1/2 (it freezes well), or cut the recipe in half.
Blessings! Enjoy making memories with your family!
